Challenge: Bringing users into the Audible experience
It may seem obvious that users need to feel at home and encouraged when they first sign into a new app or website. With a header, you have limited space to convey your message.
I went through many iterations to try and capture the essence of a warm greeting and provide a way for users to orient themselves as they embark on their journey with Audible.

Ready to listen?
The winning header was “Ready to listen?” You may be wondering why I chose this option.
Rationale: This phrase gives the feeling of being welcomed to Audible in a kind and encouraging way. Unlike “Start your first listen,” which sounds more like a command, “Ready to listen?" poses a question. It gives users a chance to get into the mindset of diving into a new experience. It’s not just about listening to the title they have purchased, but being ready for the experience as a listener who has access to thousands of audiobooks, podcasts, and originals.
Going global with alerts
Project: Alerts
Challenge: Explaining why users aren’t seeing content in regional language.
Audible is available in countries around the world and in over 8 languages. This means there are times when users will be in different regions and have access to different languages. We wanted to explain to users why they were seeing their language of preference and not the language of their current geographic region. I wrote this global alert to provide a plain language explanation.
After the alert was written, it was my job as the UX writer to partner with the localization team. The alert had to be translated in all languages where Audible is available, including Japanese, French, Spanish, and Brazilian Portuguese.
